Conclusion.
We have presented the VCF algorithm for lossy compression of images.
We have explained how and why it works in a very simple, yet very complete way,
using less than 1000 words. We have presented a test implementation
which complexity is within the order of magnitude of memory-to-memory
copying. We have tested the implementation against a reference image and
mesured compression rates that compare to the JPEG algorithm's, despite the
presence of more artefacts. We have proposed an easy way to improve the algorithm
and reduce the artefacts by using interpolated cells instead of flat cells
and we have proposed several outstanding features to be added in future versions.
